Principal Business Continuity Manager (f/m/d)

As a Business Continuity Manager (f/m/d), you will be responsible for developing, implementing and maintaining effective business continuity plans and strategies to ensure the resilience and uninterrupted operation of our organization.

Your role will involve assessing risks, creating contingency plans and coordinating efforts across departments to minimize the impact of disruptions.

You will directly report to the position Head of Security Officers. The position is located in Heidelberg, Germany.

Your next challenge

1. Business Continuity Planning:
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive business continuity plans, policies and procedures to ensure the organization's ability to respond to and recover from disruptions
  • Identify critical business functions, processes, resources and establish strategies and measures to mitigate risks and minimize downtime
  • Conduct business impact assessments to assess potential risks and quantify the financial and operational impacts of disruptions
  • Define recovery time objectives (RTOs) and recovery point objectives (RPOs) for critical business processes

2. Risk Assessment and Mitigation:
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential threats, vulnerabilities and single points of failure that may impact business operations
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies and implement preventive measures to minimize the likelihood and impact of disruptions
  • Stay updated on emerging risks, industry trends and regulatory requirements related to business continuity and incorporate them into the planning process

3. Business Continuity Testing and Maintenance:
  • Design and conduct regular testing exercises, such as tabletop simulations and full-scale drills, to validate the effectiveness of business continuity plans
  • Analyze test results, identify areas for improvement and update plans and procedures accordingly
  • Coordinate and facilitate training programs to educate employees on their roles and responsibilities during disruptions

4. Crisis Management and Incident Response:
  • Establish a crisis management framework and incident response procedures to effectively manage and respond to emergencies and disruptions
  • Coordinate and lead response efforts during crisis situations, collaborating with internal teams, external partners, and relevant authorities
  • Communicate timely and accurate updates to key stakeholders, ensuring transparency and maintaining the organization's reputation

5. Documentation and Reporting:
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of business continuity plans, procedures and incident reports
  • Prepare regular reports on business continuity metrics, testing results and program effectiveness for senior management and regulatory compliance purposes
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations and best practices related to business continuity

Your profile

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, risk management or a related field. A master's degree is preferred
  • Proven experience in business continuity planning, crisis management or a similar role
  • Strong knowledge of business continuity principles, methodologies and industry standards
  • Familiarity with risk assessment methodologies and regulatory requirements related to business continuity
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess complex situations and develop effective strategies
  • Strong project management abilities, including the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines and manage resources
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Relevant certifications such as Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or Business Continuity Certified Planner (BCCP) are desirable.
