Multi-Purpose Building Bryggan (Sweden)

Multi-Purpose Building Bryggan is one of the more eye-catching buildings that are being built in Cementa's old industrial area in Limhamn, Malmö. Here, service, housing and offices integrate with the core of the house - a car park with space for 350 cars. For fire protection, concrete became an obvious choice.

The partially hidden car park extends through the building from the basement level up to the fifth floor and is clad with offices on the north and south side and with housing in the west. On the sixth floor there is a preschool that can accommodate 80 children. The preschool's playground of 2,000 m² is located on the roof.

When the buidling is finished in 2019, there will be a pharmacy, a health center and a large grocery store to be housed. The fact that the building contributes to reducing cars' claim to land space in the area has also been a big profit from a sustainability perspective, as availble space is then released for denser housing development.

The multi-purpose building Bryggan will be environmentally certified according to BREEAM with high standards of indoor environment, energy efficiency, water management and sustainable waste management.
