The Canada Line is 6.3 km long and a key route in Vancouver’s rapid transit line. It connects Richmond, Vancouver, and the Vancouver International Airport.

The particular line is composed of on-grade, elevated, and underground sections. The project encompassed a cut and cover of 6.3 km section of track, containing both side-by-side and stacked tunnels, through a busy Vancouver community.

HeidelbergCements Canadian subsidiary Ocean Concrete delivered 125,000 m3 of ready-mixed concrete to the project, including more than 36,000 m3 of Ocean Concrete’s Tempo High-Early Age Strength Concrete.

Given the impact on public infrastructure and local businesses, an expedited schedule was the main challenge of the project. The transportation and logistical challenges included getting trucks to the project site given the interruption in public infrastructure.
