Sun Life Financial Building

Engineered specifically for roof applications, SmartCast Clean pavers are formulated with a unique blend of special aggregates, admixtures, and TX Active photocatalytic cement from HeidelbergCement’s subsidiary. They provide the means to create highly usable rooftop environments that are solar reflective, self-cleaning, and pollution reducing.

The photocatalytic action eliminates the various pollutants – vehicle exhaust gas, flue gas from domestic heating, industrial discharges of chemicals, pesticides – which come into contact with the concrete surface, transforming them into substances which do not harm the environment. This allows the original aesthetic appearance of the structure or of the work to be preserved over time.

SmartCast Clean pavers were recently specified for a rooftop pedestrian walkway atop the landmark Sun Life Financial building in Waterloo, Canada. The stones were manufactured by Hanson Hardscapes and installed by contractor C3 Polymeric of Brampton, Ontario. The Sun Life Financial building is managed by Bentall LP, a leader in sustainable property management throughout Canada and the USA.
