Senior Civil Project Engineer (f/m/d)

The Heidelberg Competence Center Cement (CCCs) are responsible for the development and execution of all major or complex capex projects.

For our Competence Center Cement (CCC) Europe we are looking for a Civil Engineer. The Engineering Europe/AEM department is responsible for the areas Europe and Africa-Eastern Mediterranean Basin (AEM).

As a Civil Project Engineer, you are the technical expert in civil engineering in investment projects enforcing and living Heidelberg Materials´ mission of zero accidents and maximum environmental sustainability while at all time maintaining quality, budget, and time for completion.

Your place of work will be Heidelberg, Germany, and you will report to the Head of Engineering CCC Europe.

Your next challenge

  • You prepare civil/structural budgets and calculations of investment cost return in cooperation with Project Managers including quantity estimations
  • You support the implementation of complex investment projects with optimal cost/quality ratio according to Heidelberg Materials´ Project Management Guideline
  • You review tender documents and technical specifications and report on their quality, completeness, suggesting improvements as appropriate
  • You participate in the review of feasibility studies and proposals of various technical solutions with their related investment and operational costs
  • You support the project team during the design phase of a project by directly participating to drawing review with designers and by monitoring design and documentation quality and correcting as appropriate
  • You execute civil construction projects with direct responsibility for quality, cost and time, managing a project team from the development of the project concept through plant start-up, monitoring time schedule and project cost, implementing corrective actions as required, and providing periodic progress reports
  • You participate in quality control programs of contractor’s performance on site
  • You monitor technical developments and create technical design criteria and standards for Heidelberg Materials
  • You support operations with technical expertise


Your profile

  • You have a university degree in civil engineering or equivalent
  • You have at least 8 years professional experience in engineering companies engaged in heavy industries, building materials industries or similar
  • You have high social competence, excellent team spirit and intercultural understanding
  • You have a good understanding of contractual matters (negotiation and legal aspects)
  • You have basic project management skills
  • Strong entrepreneurial thinking and acting is a must
  • You have very good English skills, additional language skills are an advantage
  • You are willing to extensively travel abroad
