Residential Area Speyer

In Speyer, Germany, a new residential area is being built in a prime location directly along the Rhine at the site of a former brick factory. The modern buildings will be reminiscent of the history of the place.

With its striking urban character and the participation of various architects, the new district in Speyer sets remarkable accents. Embedded in a historical environment, it impresses with its modern lightness and geometric clarity. The design of the individual buildings is diverse given the different architectural languages which can be seen, for example, on the facades with individual designs of the window cutouts, loggias, and balconies. The floor plans and sizes of the individual apartments also vary, which in turn ensures a diverse, lively mix of residents.

The buildings completed so far are reinforced concrete framework buildings with concrete from Heidelberger Beton. Our subsidiary supplied 6,382 m³ of concrete for the first construction phase and 7,790 m³ of concrete for the second construction phase. The brick shell is framed by exposed concrete elements. The basements, with underground garages and flood protection features to protect also the historic old town of Speyer from flooding, were made of water-resistant concrete from Heidelberger Beton.
