Products & Services
One of MRM’s major successes has been the development of “Cemset” This is the trade name given to the gypsum product. This is now supplied to all three of the Hanson works in the UK.
MRM has also developed a recycled Alternative Raw Material for the cement industry called Cemfeed. MRM is dedicated to finding ways of recycling inorganic wastes into the cement industry. By doing this it will increase the sustainability of Castle Cement by enabling it to utilise greater amounts of waste and less virgin raw materials.
Recycling of inorganic wastes
MRM specialises in the recycling of plasterboard, gypsum and other inorganic wastes. If your waste contains gypsum or calcium, silicon, aluminium or iron then we may be able to recycle it! As well as the benefits to your company of minimising the amount of waste you dispose of and maximising the amount you recycle, you should also find that this saves you money as well!
We can look at samples of your wastes and, using sister company SRM’s extensive laboratories, assess it’s suitability for use in our recycling programmes. This assessment is a rigorous procedure designed to ensure that cement quality is in no way compromised by the use of recycled raw materials.
Plasterboard and gypsum recycling – “Cemset”
Gypsum is a vital component in the manufacture of cement. Without the addition of gypsum, the cement would set to quickly and be unworkable. It has traditionally been a natural resource that has been mined from the ground. MRM has developed a unique process that enables the two main components of plasterboard – gypsum and cardboard – to be separated. The resulting gypsum is then blended with other materials such as other gypsum wastes to make a product called Cemset. Rigorous testing and analysis of the product ensures that it meets the necessary quality standards.
The cardboard from the plasterboard is also often recycled as Profuel, an alternative fuel for cement kilns manufactured by SRM, a sister company of MRM.
Therefore, MRM can offer the perfect recycling solution for plasterboard wastes!
Cemfeed
MRM has also developed a recycled Alternative Raw Material for the cement industry called Cemfeed. Cemfeed tries to mimic the naturally occurring components used in the manufacture of cement – namely the oxides of calcium, silicon, aluminium and to a lesser extent iron – by the blending together of wastes that contain some or all of these elements.
Alternative Raw Materials
Many inorganic wastes closely mimic the naturally occurring raw materials used in cement manufacture e.g. foundry sands are chemically very similar to the sand that is used in cement manufacture. In these instances, the wastes can be sometimes sent directly to the kilns themselves. Wastes which tend to be silica, calcium, aluminium or iron rich tend to be the types of waste which fall into this category.
