New trailer is better by design

Hanson is the first UK quarrying company to introduce an innovative new articulated tipper trailer which improves fuel consumption and productivity.

The TPX trailer, made by Belgian company STAS, features the latest aerodynamic design. Its lighter body, conical shape, angled rear door and wheel arch fins cut drag and boost efficiency.

As well as improved fuel economy of up to 4.8 per cent, it carries at least half a tonne more than many of Hanson’s current trailers with a capacity of 29.4 tonnes.

Derek Pearce, a Hanson franchisee for over 20 years, working from its quarry in Chipping Sodbury, near Bristol, has bought the new trailer and is impressed with its performance.

“I decided to by the TPX trailer as I liked the way it looked as well as the fact that it should save fuel,” he said. “It has not let me down and delivers everything it claims. It handles very well, has great health and safety features and my fuel consumption is excellent.”
