Hanson Contracting undertakes hard landscaping maintenance at various MoD sites covered by the Defence Estates Regional Prime Contracts. Typical work includes:
• Maintenance and replacement of Aircraft Service Platforms (ASP)
• Airfield pavement maintenance
• Refurbishment and replacement of drainage
• Asphalt surfacing
• Block paving
• Groundworks and foundations
• Airfield markings and signage
• Design and build

Innovation:
• New method of asset grading and cost forecasting introduced to improve visibility of the estate condition and accuracy of forecasts as to where and when maintenance or upgrade interventions are required.
Sustainability:
• Introduction of an environmentally friendly citrus cleaner to remove rubber deposits from runways
• Extensive in-situ recycling on various schemes
• Use of the Hanson Formpave Aquaflow Sustainable Urban Drainage System
• Establishment of designated storage areas for arisings on-base for use in future maintenance activities
Achievements:
• Early works involvement has led to more accurate cost forecasting, and the adoption of alternative solutions realising improvements in whole life value for money
• Significant cost savings on schemes through use of alternative Asphalt materials to replace traditional Marshal Asphalt requirements
• Considerate Constructors Score of 34.5 out of 40 on the Beranburh Fields drainage upgrade and adoption project.
