Low carbon cement

We care for the environment and we are doing our bit for the benefit of future generations. It's the only sensible course of action.
  • The lowest amount of carbon dioxide per tonne of cement manufactured.
  • For every tonne of cement produced, 130kg of waste as raw material or fuel is recovered.
  • There have been significant reductions in emissions of sulphur dioxide, oxides of nitrogen and dust .
  • The overall environmental impact of one tonne of our cement is 50 per cent below the UK industry average.
  • We are committed to UK manufacture, which avoids the environmental impact from shipping cement.

Sustainability review

Our environmental performance reports have previously been audited by the British Standards Institution for the accuracy of the contents.

In 2007, we commissioned Ove Arup & Partners to evaluate our operational performance in terms of sustainability. Their appraisal took place during April and May 2007.
