The Arc is the flagship building of the prestigious ng2 Business Park in Queen’s Drive on the outskirts of Nottingham. This land has historical value for the city, as it formerly housed the Nottingham Ordnance Factory which manufactured tank and artillery gun barrels, and which was a key employer in the area.
Located to the south-western edge of the city centre, today this land has been put to similarly productive use. ng2 Business Park is a 1,000,000 sq ft mixed use scheme, which will house 370,000 sq ft of offices on completion.
Designed by Nottingham architects, Maber Associates, and developed by Miller Birch Construction, The Arc is a 44,000 sq ft grade A building located on the entrance roundabout to the business park.
The brief for The Arc called for a large office building offering maximum flexibility to accommodate the demand for various types and sizes of workspace on behalf of potential business tenants. Increasingly referred to as ‘the best business address in Nottingham’, to date the development has attracted such quality names as Coutts, HSBC, Mercedes-Benz and law firm Geldards, to name a few.
Its very name suggests this building’s shape, and sets the scene for the varied and unusual design of the ‘curves’, ‘fins’ and ‘points’ of the other buildings located throughout the development.
Given its striking and imposing design, The Arc stands as an introduction to this upmarket business park which offers the maximum in contemporary architecture, quality fittings, creative landscaping and plenty of parking, and which creates an impression of prosperity and success for its tenants.
The overall effect is one of sleek, clean lines and state-of-the-art office facilities. To achieve this, Hanson’s Kendal Cream Dragfaced bricks were specified. The light textured buff appearance of the brickwork creates a feeling of modern space and light, with just enough texture to inject a rich, quality, heritage effect.
With this vibrant cream colour being used throughout the development, The Arc stands as the gateway into a futuristic business park that has its focus firmly set on excellence in office space, while setting a benchmark for high quality urban architecture.
