Domestic water harvesting, Bristol

  • Location: Nailsea, Bristol
  • Type of system: Tanked
  • Contractor: GMI Construction
  • Completion: 2007

The AQUAFLOW Water Harvesting system collects water from all impermeable surfaces, roofs, paths and especially the driveway. All water falling onto the paved surface is cleaned by the INBITEX Geotextile layer before storage.

The new site at Nailsea, Bristol used 60 m2 of AQUASETT Traditional. A site used a tanked system.

A sump was set into the paved area. The sump contains a pump which allows the harvested water. In this case it was non potable and was dispensed via a tap and hosepipe.

Car washing becomes an environmentally friendly pursuit as the majority of the water used will automatically be cleaned and recycled as it passes through the permeable paving on the driveway.
