The new Hayfield Business Park based at Robin Hood Airport in Finningley, Doncaster used Aquaflow® permeable block paving.
An area in excess of 2,000 square meters was installed throughout the site, providing car parking and minor roads to the industrial park.
A SUDS system was an essential site requirement in order for the project to comply and pass planning regulations.
The ground conditions were ideal for this solution. The overall reduction in drainage costs was due to the omission of pipework, man holes and drainage design. It was extremely appealing as the huge sustainability and ‘green’ benefits it allowed.
The specification and implementation of the Aquaflow® permeable block paving SUDS system continues to grow at a rapid pace. Sustainable drainage is moving towards a mandatory requirement for planning considerations and this is set to further increase.
The client demanded a green sustainable approach. The engineers benefited from a reduced drainage design scheme. The Formpave Aquaflow® met everyone’s requirements.
Aquaflow paving blocks were used in conjunction with the infiltration system at Hayfield Park. This provided drainage through vertical channels and allowed water through the surface at a rate of approximately 9000mm per hour (9000 litres per m2 per hour).
