BI Ready – concept for early surface finishing

We are now launching the concept BIReady, aiming at minimising our customer’s waiting time before surface trowelling. The concept means that the time for surface trowelling is determined using:

• a newly developed computer program that gives accurate trowelling forecasts for our products
• tested and reliable products – GlättBI

The concept BIReady includes the following components:

Consultation
The conditions applicable to the project are discussed with the contractor. The discussion either takes place early in a project, where a detailed plan is prepared showing which GlättBI-products/measurements that are required under various weather conditions. The consultation can also take place a day or so prior to casting, where a recommendation is made for the specific casting based on a relatively safe weather forecast.

BI Ready-forecast
A completely new calculation program, BIReady, has been developed for predicting the time for trowelling. The program calculates the heat of hydration of the concrete at a very early age throughout the structure. The strength development of the surface layer, which is the decisive parameter for trowelling, is then calculated based on partly new theoretical models for heat- and strength development. The program considers the structural depth, type of underlying surface, effect of wind and temperature, and working methods (casting time, covering). Using the program, we can give clear recommendations on when trowelling can be initiated and on the time required to complete.

Delivery of GlättBI
The GlättBI product group, which was specially developed to minimise waiting times when trowelling, has been part of the product range for a long time. The products have now been calibrated against the BIReady program, in a comprehensive laboratory study. The accuracy of the forecasts has been verified through follow-ups and measurements at actual deliveries.

Ready on time
With BIReady you can get home at normal time. Avoidance of unplanned overtime reduces costs and facilitates a better planning of resources on the construction site.
