Research and development is a continuing process that is concentrated in four main areas:
• Developing new concepts, including new panel design, new joint systems etc.
• Developing new applications for existing tank systems. A highly cost-effective roof system for potable water reservoirs, and overflow channels erected on the outside of the tank, with or without a running way for bridge scrapers are some of these new applications.
• Developing new concrete formulas and curing methods to enable tanks to withstand more aggressive liquids.
• Developing and improving new or existing software tools for designing tanks.
In addition to these main areas, manufacturing and construction processes are constantly being improved. Using advanced FEM-software (DIANA) we are able to analyse overall stability problems as well as specific structural details. This allows us to identify and quantify the stresses in regions of great importance for the whole system, such as the connection between the precast panels and a bottom slab cast in-situ.
