Abetong has come to an agreement with Explore Manufacturing, a subsidiary to Great Britain’s largest, privately owned construction company, regarding manufacture of tank under licence. The agreement runs for five years, which means that Abetong will get an annual yield on all tanks delivered from the company during the licence period.
"This is something of a breakthrough in Great Britain for Abetong, Fredrik Holst, General Manager of Abetong, says. Great Britain is a country using prefabricated concrete products to a large extent and this may imply that Abetong has made a break into an important market", Fredrik Holst maintains.
According to the licence agreement the Abetong prefabricated concrete tank C14 will be manufactured in Great Britain and the developed C14 technology will be transferred to the customer as digital data and software complete with a training package. The licence agreement also contains product training within the fields of design, production, erection and marketing.
"This licence agreement paves the way for a win-win situation with a local partner since our own resources are limited in performing extensive tank contracts in the UK market," the project leader Tobias Axelsson says.
The first 28 sedimentation tanks will be parts of two of London’s sewage treatment plants, the largest in Europe, with scheduled construction start in spring 2011. This new investment meets the increasing discharge of waste water and the demand for decreasing outlet in the River Thames.
The robust design and the homogeneous panel construction were the determining factors when the choice was made in the favour of the Abetong Tank C14.
"The efficient performance with tendons in combination with injected grout gives water-tightness as well as a durable tank. The product can be prepared with smart integrated solutions, which is highly prized by the customer", Tobias Axelsson claims.

FACTS regarding the C14 tank The product Abetong Tank C14 is a flexible, industrialized building system for circular concrete tanks. Simply speaking the panels are rationally manufactured in a plant and then they are erected on a bottom slab cast-in-situ. With the capacity of diameters up to 70 metres the product is, for example, very well suited for applications to wastewater treatment plants. The C14 is designed for heights up to 14 m as a standard. Roof solutions, protection lining, scraper bridge runways and pipes exemplify additional solutions for adaptable applications. The C14 tank is also used as a digestion tank, for storing and bio-energy storage as well as for potable water. This means that the environmental profile of the system is high.
