To save the environment and reduce costs, HeidelbergCement seeks to use alternative fuels in cement production. Alternative fuels replaces the traditionally fossile fuels such as coal and oil. In this way we reduce emissions of CO2.
Alternative fules is mainly produced from different types of waste. It can be household waste such as paper, plastics, textiles, wood and car tyres. Industrial waste products suchs as chemicals, oil products, animal meal, and more is also used.
Hazardous waste and the handling and processing of these to make fuel, is a separate part of our organisation.
