We see helping our employees gain qualifications as a core personnel development task: Qualified employees form one of the main pillars of our Group. Therefore, we offer Group-wide programs such as the International Management Candidate Program (IMCP) for junior employees with management potential and the Senior Management Development Program (SMDP) for experienced executives. In all business units, and sometimes at the plant level, we also provide advanced training in leadership and management, business administration, sales, cement production, quality management, IT and foreign languages.
The HeidelbergCement Africa Academy In 2002, we founded the HeidelbergCement Africa Academy, in order to specifically promote local management on the African continent. Participants in the two-year program are junior African employees with management qualities. The first-year-group completed a total of four modules on leadership and management and then spent a few months working in other African subsidiaries, in order to gain leadership experience and expand their intercultural capabilities. We are now seeing the first fruits of this program. One participant from Ghana is currently working as a controller for the Group in Heidelberg and will later return to Africa in order to incorporate his experiences there in a more advanced position. |
