Helmut S. Erhard, former Member of the Managing Board of HeidelbergCement passed away

Helmut S. Erhard, Member of the Supervisory Board and former Member of the Managing Board of HeidelbergCement passed away on 25 April after a very serious disease, at the age of 64 years.

Helmut S. Erhard was Member of the Managing Board of HeidelbergCement for nine years. He joined the company in 1971 and occupied several international executive positions. In 1996, he became Managing Director of the Heidelberg Technology Center (HTC) which developed under his leadership into an internationally acknowledged center of competence. In 1999, Helmut S. Erhard was appointed member of the Managing Board and President & Chief Executive Officer of Lehigh Cement Company. Under his leadership North America became one of the most successful and competitive areas in the HeidelbergCement Group.

Upon his retirement at the end of December 2007, Helmut S. Erhard served on the Supervisory Board of HeidelbergCement.

Helmut S. Erhard has made a great contribution to HeidelbergCement and the cement industry as a whole. He was active in numerous national and international organisations and associations such as the German Cement Association and the Portland Cement Association in the US.

Helmut S. Erhard is survived by his wife and two adult children.
