HeidelbergCement increases capacity in Turkish cement market

Akçansa, a joint venture of HeidelbergCement and Sabanci Holding, is the leading cement and ready-mixed concrete producer in Turkey.
The company plans to invest more than EUR 100 million in order to increase the production capacity at its Çanakkale plant on the Aegean coast, which also serves HeidelbergCement’s international customers via its own deep water port facility. The total clinker production capacity of Akçansa will be increased from 3.8 million tonnes to 5.7 million tonnes by the end of 2007. The company will thus further strengthen its leadership position in Turkey.

This joint venture was established in 1996. Akçansa operates two cement plants, one grinding facility and 23 ready-mixed concrete plants in Turkey.
