In Bosnia and Herzegovina, after a couple of years of booming construction activities connected with the rebuilding of the country, the cement consumption slowed. However, per capita consumption still remains one of the highest in Europe. The Kakanj cement plant, situated 50 km from Sarajevo, is the larger of two cement plants in the country and produces various types of high-quality cement. The cement produced by the Kakanj plant has been essential to the construction of some of the nation's most important infrastructural, architectural and civil industry projects.
HeidelbergCement operates three ready-mixed concrete plants in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
