Overview

Germany is the homeland of HeidelbergCement, where the company was founded in 1873 in Heidelberg. Until the end of the 1960s, the company operated exclusively in the south of Germany.

HeidelbergCement is market leader in the cement business. Apart from cement,  aggregates and ready-mixed concrete, HeidelbergCement also produces concrete products, lime and sand-lime bricks in Germany.

The market

In Germany, HeidelbergCement operates 9 cement plants and 4 grinding plants. They are located mainly in the South and Northwest of the country. In addition, a grinding plant is located in the area of the capital Berlin.

The aggregates and concrete business line includes the production of aggregates, ready-mixed concrete, prefabricated concrete elements for building construction as well as for water supply and wastewater disposal, paving stones, and concrete blocks. A wide network of production sites guarantees a quick market supply all over the country.

In the building products business line, HeidelbergCement operates production sites for sand-lime bricks and lime.
