The market

Duna-Dráva Cement operates in the Hungarian cement market through two plants – Vác and Beremend – producing various types of cement. Located near the Hungarian capital of Budapest, on the river Danube, the Vác plant is distinguished by its long tradition and also by the quality of its limestone resources, rated the purest in the country. The Beremend plant is located in the southern part of the country and has nearly a century long tradition. HeidelbergCement has invested significantly in modernisation and improvement at both plants, beginning with new kiln technology in Vác, representing the highest technical standards in Hungary, and bringing major improvements in environmental protection. In 2009, we completed the modernisation of the clinker production at the Beremend plant. Besides capacity expansion, the degree to which alternative fuels and raw materials can be used was also increased significantly. Duna-Dráva Cement is the leader on the Hungarian building materials market.

HeidelbergCement and Schwenk operate 9 aggregates plants mainly in the vicinity of Budapest. Our company Dunai Kavicsüzemek is in the ownership of Duna-Dráva Cement and TBG Hungaria.

Ready mixed concrete activities in Hungary are carried out by TBG Hungária, a company owned by Duna-Dráva Cement. Currently, TBG Hungária operates 36 ready-mixed concrete plants.

Despite the economic recovery in 2011, construction activity in Hungary is still adversely affected due to cost-saving measures connected with budgetary consolidation.
