The market
In Malaysia, HeidelbergCement is the market leader in aggregates and asphalt and within the top three in ready-mixed concrete. We operate 21 aggregate quarries, 19 asphalt plants, and 40 ready-mixed concrete plants.
Our aggregates activities benefited from the significant recovery in infrastructure and the start of production in a new, strategically well-positioned quarry in the state of Penang.
In Malaysia, we conduct major asphalt activities. Boosted by several large projects in the south of Malaysia, the sales volumes of the asphalt operating line increased in 2011 by 16.4% to 1.9 million tonnes.
