The purchase of Hanson in August 2007 allowed HeidelbergCement to gain significant market positions in Australia, particularly in the ready-mixed concrete and aggregates sector. Hanson has participating interests in two cement plants and one grinding plant. It currently operates 224 ready-mixed concrete plants and 56 aggregate operations. With an additional two precast concrete factories located in New South Wales, Hanson is also Australia’s most diversified precaster.
