The market
Akçansa operates in both the cement and ready-mixed concrete sectors in the Marmara, Agean, and Black Sea regions. The company has three cement plants in Istanbul, Çanakkale, and Ladik. In addition, the grinding plant Karçimsa in Karabük, a joint venture of Akçansa and a steel company, produces blast furnace slag cement.
At the Çanakkale plant, a facility for generating electricity from kiln waste heat was commissioned at the end of September 2011. The installation covers around 30% of the entire electricity requirement of the plant and will also cut CO2 emissions by 60,000 tonnes per year.
Akçansa produces ready-mixed concrete at numerous locations in the Marmara and Agean regions and distributes it under the brand name Betonsa. Aggregates are sold under the brand name Agregasa.
