Since 1995, HeidelbergCement has been active in China with joint ventures in the provinces of Guangdong and Shaanxi as well as in Hong Kong.

Our 50:50 joint venture, China Century Cement, operates three cement plants in Guangzhou, the capital city of the southern Chinese province of Guangdong. In 2005, HeidelbergCement formed a 50:50 joint venture in the central Chinese province of Shaanxi. The joint venture Jidong HeidelbergCement operates two cement plants. Our joint venture partner, Tangshan Jidong Cement, is one of the top five Chinese cement producers.
In addition, HeidelbergCement is active in the ready-mixed concrete and aggregates sector. Joint ventures operate 16 ready-mixed concrete plants in Guangzhou and Hong Kong and five aggregate quarries in Hong Kong.
China accounts for more than 40% of the world cement market. The provinces of Guangdong and Shaanxi, where our production sites are located, record above-average growth rates.
