We provide apprenticeships in many different areas. Whether they are interested in commercial, industrial or technical work, we help our apprentices to reach their goals at the right time through practical training. Organisational and business relationships are discussed and commercial issues examined carefully, under expert guidance. At the same time, our apprentices are given great freedom to learn how to work independently, to grow along with their tasks and to develop personally.
The apprenticeship opportunities may vary from country to country as a result of legislative and regional differences.
In Germany, for example, we offer the following apprenticeship routes: - commercial training
- technical training
- laboratory assistant
- building material examiner
- industrial training
- electronic technician for technical equipment and installation
- industrial mechanist
- trained assistant for stock logistics
- mechanic and electronic technician
As an international company, HeidelbergCement offers:
- individual support
- varied seminars during the apprenticeship
- independent project work
- targeted language training
- support in preparing for exams
In return, we expect:
- an interest in the requirements of the relevant apprenticeship
- ability to work in a team
- dedication
- ability to work independently
- and, for our commercial apprentices, knowledge of MS Office and good knowledge of English

Alexander Erl Industrial apprentice, Germany |
The work environment here for apprentices is fantastic. There are always enough people who are happy to help you with problems and talk to you. So I’m really enjoying my apprenticeship here at the plant and there are also lots of opportunities for further training after the apprenticeship.

Katharina Rother Commercial apprentice, Germany |
I’m pleased that I’m doing this apprenticeship because getting a taste of all the different areas will give me more flexibility in my future career.
What I think is great about my training is that I was given a lot of important and high-responsibility tasks right from the start of the apprenticeship and was able to perform them independently. So I’m challenged but also encouraged.
