HistoryHeidelbergCement is one of the leading cement producers worldwide. It entered the Georgian market in 2006 and made significant investments in two cement production companies: SaqCementi and Kartuli Cementi.
HeidelbergCement activity in the Georgian cement market began in May 2006 when HeidelbergCement purchased a stake of 51% of the Georgian cement producer Kartuli Cementi Ltd. This was the first investment of HeidelbergCement in the Caucasus region. Later, company share in Kartuli Cementi increased up to 70%. Kartuli Cementi operates a plant located in Rustavi, 50 km from the Georgian capital Tbilisi.
At the end of 2006, HeidelbergCement acquired a stake of 75% in SaqCementi, the largest cement producer in the Caucasus region. In 2011 SaqCementi name has changed to HeidelbergCement Georgia!
HeidelbergCement Georgia operates two cement plants (Kaspi and Rustavi) near the capital Tbilisi.
In 2008, HeidelbergCement established the company HeidelbergBeton Georgia Ltd and began concrete production.
In 2011 HeidelbergCement constructed cement terminal in Supsa, West of Georgia. Terminal have been put into operation in April, 2011. Supsa Terminal deliveres cement to the facilities placed at the Black Sea coastal strip!
In 2011 HeidelbergBeton constructed the mobile concrete plant, and put it into operation in September, 2011. Mobile plant can supply construction sites on different places in Georgia!
