HeidelbergCement donates EUR 500,000 for Tsunami victims
HeidelbergCement is supporting the rebuilding of the fishing village Batee in the Indonesian province of Aceh by contributing EUR 270,000. Of the 6,000 residents of the village, more than 500 lost their lives in the fatal floods and 3,000 were left without homes. The local infrastructure was almost completely destroyed. HeidelbergCement wants the money to be used specifically to help rebuild houses, roads, schools and hospitals. Our Indonesian subsidiary Indocement is coordinating the use of the funds.
In addition, subsidiaries of HeidelbergCement have made other important individual contributions to several aid organisations for the flood victims throughout the disaster region. The largest financial contribution was made by Indocement, whose around 7,000 employees and production were not affected by the disaster.
