A First Step

An internship is an opportunity to experience the working world as well as to apply theoretical knowledge gained in one's studies to practical challenges. Each year, some 60 students exchange the classroom for an internship at HeidelbergCement. These interns assist in projects, assume various responsibilities, and get to know our business from the inside out.

An internship usually lasts between three and six months. You'll have an opportunity to become closely involved in the day-to-day activities of a given department. You'll receive a monthly wage of 650 or 750 euros depending on whether you are a Bachelor's or Master's student. If you live more than 50 km away, you'll also get a commuter bonus or rent subsidy.

All candidates applying for an internship must have good grades, a strong command of English, and good familiarity with MS Office. Your success with us will depend on how motivated, responsible, and independent you are in fulfilling your duties. It doesn't matter if you are required to complete an internship or if you want to join our team on your own initiative. We also welcome applications from individuals who would like to complete an internship prior to starting their university education.

Simply apply online. Ideally, you should apply three to six months prior to your desired start date. Your application should contain the following:

  • Letter of motivation
  • Resume
  • University transcripts and other relevant certificates
  • If you possess special skills or knowledge, please mention this in your application
