Calvary Hill

Duna-Dráva Cement Kft. (DDC), a subsidiary of HeidelbergCement, has supported the city of Pécs in southern Hungary with the rehabilitation of Kálvária-hill (Calvary Hill).

DDC, which operates its Beremend cement plant around 60 km from Pécs, financed the complete restoration of the hill with an investment of 35 million forint (around €123,000).

After restoration of the original natural vegetation, a new paved path, a lookout terrace, and benches with an attractive modern design were built using TioCem. TioCem® is a premium cement, which reduces the level of nitrogen oxides (NO_x) by means of an integrated photocatalyst. At Calvary Hill HeidelbergCement was the first to use this environmentally conscious technology in Hungary.
