Calvary Hill, Hungary

Duna-Dráva Cement Kft. (DDC), a subsidiary of HeidelbergCement, has supported the city of Pécs in southern Hungary with the rehabilitation of Kálvária-hill (Calvary Hill).

DDC, which operates its Beremend cement plant around 60 km from Pécs, financed the complete restoration of the hill with an investment of 35 million forint (around €123,000).

After restoration of the original natural vegetation, a new paved path, a lookout terrace, and benches with an attractive modern design were built using TioCem. TioCem® is a premium cement, which reduces the level of nitrogen oxides (NOx) by means of an integrated photocatalyst. At Calvary Hill HeidelbergCement was the first to use this environmentally conscious technology in Hungary.
