Local responsibility

As cities and villages expand, local communities are growing closer to our plant, quarries and port, whereby residents may increasingly be disturbed by our operations. It is our intention to reduce the negative impact of our activities where possible, by decreasing emissions of sulphur dioxides (SO2) and nitrogen oxides (NOx), dust, noise and vibrations, and keeping all local stakeholders informed of our activities.
Production of cement requires non-renewable raw materials, such as limestone. Quarrying activities also impact local biodiversity.  We are working to increase our use of recycled input and bypass material, saving natural resources, and we also develop restoration plans to mitigate our impact. We emphasise an open dialogue with key stakeholders, and try to keep our closest neighbours well informed about our operations.

Goals and objectives

  • Reduce negative impact from our operations
  • Compliance with our permits; with a special focus on the emissions of NOx, SO2, dust, Hg and other heavy metals.
  • Reduction in the number of complaints from authorities, neighbours and other stakeholders.
